Historic Dey Mansion will host 2 events the week of George Washington's Birthday

WHAT: The President is Dead: A lecture from the author of the book "The President is Dead," a collection of stories from presidents in their final days. 

WHO: The Dey Mansion and the Passaic County Department of Historical Affairs

WHEN: Feb 12th from 1pm-3pm

WHERE: The Dey Mansion, 199 Totowa Road in Wayne, NJ

Dey Mansion releases its first program of its newly formed lecture series on February 12, 2017. Louis L. Picone, author of The President is Dead will be sharing his research methodology and enthusiasm about the captivating stories of how our presidents, from George Washington to Gerald Ford met their ends, the circumstances of their deaths, the ceremony of their funerals, their public afterlives, conspiracy theories surrounding their deaths, and much more!

Picone is an author and current graduate student at William Paterson University. He has served on the board for the Roxbury Historic Trust and is a member of the Authors Guild and Mensa International. In 2016, Picone was invited to speak at the international conference “U.S. Presidents and Russian Rulers” at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He has also traveled all around the United States, visiting historic sites associated with our great presidents.

Admission for this event will include a tour of DeyMansion and light refreshments will be served.

WHAT: George Washington's 285th Birthday Celebration 

WHO: The Dey Mansion and the Passaic County Department of Historical Affairs

WHEN: Feb 19th from 11am-4pm

WHERE: The Dey Mansion, 199 Totowa Road in Wayne, NJ

COST: $5 per person, children under 6 are admitted free of charge. 

Sunday, February 19th from 11:00am to 4:00pm the Dey Mansion will be celebrating George Washington’s 285th Birthday.

The birthday of a young nation's first great hero inspired celebration among Americans during the centennial of his birth. People gathered to offer toasts to George Washington and other important figures of the day. Balls were also held, complete with cake and dancing. On Sunday, February 19th, the Dey Mansion will honor Washington in the same spirit.

Come celebrate with us as we make a traditional salute to George Washington, eat cake, and learn more about the country's first president. Special appearances will be made by General George Washington and New Jersey’s local militia. The day will be filled with 18th century games, dancing, music, hearth cooking, and crafters.

Admission is $5.00 per person, children 6 years of age and under are free.

11:30 – 12:30 PM - Dancing

1:00 – 1:30 PM - Salute to George Washington & Cake

1:45 PM – Skirmish or Military Drills

2:30 – 3:30 PM - Dancing
