Passaic County Code Blue Alert Plan and Point in Time Count Statement by FH James

FREEHOLDER AND CHAIRMAN OF THE HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE BRUCE JAMES RELEASES STATEMENT ON PASSAIC COUNTY CODE BLUE ALERT PLAN & ANNUAL POINT IN TIME COUNT

New policies in place to protect persons at-risk to weather exposure during extreme cold in New Jersey

 

(Paterson, New Jersey) – Today, Passaic County Freeholder and Chairman of the Human Services Committee Bruce James released the following statement on the newly adopted Passaic County Code Blue Alert Plan:

 

            The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders are urging individuals at-risk to weather related exposure during this extreme cold stretch to seek shelter at various warming centers operating throughout Passaic County by municipalities, non-profits, and religious organizations. Any person seeking transportation to a warming center can contact the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at (973) 389-5951.

 

            Passaic County continues to coordinate with municipal officials in keeping people off the streets during the cold weather in compliance with the newly adopted Passaic County Code Blue Alert Plan. Additionally, the County is urging any non-profits or religious organizations interested in serving as a warming center reach out directly to the Passaic County Department of Human Services at (973) 881-2834 for more information.

 

            Moreover, Passaic County is participating in the annual Point-In-Time Count on January 24, 2018, a national initiative of the United States Housing and Urban Development Department to inform the homeless assistance community in Passaic County. Volunteers are needed on January 24th to canvass Passaic County to properly survey the homeless population.
