Special Awards Will Be Given For 2018 Film Festival

(Totowa, NJ) – The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the members of the Passaic County Film Commission are pleased to announce a special monetary donation to the Passaic County Film Festival to be held on April 21, 2018, that will permit significant monetary awards.

For the first time, the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and members of the Passaic County Film Commission will be able to bestow a $2,000 award to the filmmakers who submitted the best documentary on an environmental topic or social issue.  An additional $2,000 award will be given to the filmmaker with the best Public Service Announcement.

These two generous donations were made by an anonymous donor interested in promoting filmmaking in Passaic County.

These special monetary awards will be presented at the Passaic County Film Festival on Saturday, April 21 at the Fabian Theater 8 in the upper level at Center City Mall, 301 Main Street, Paterson.

The North Jersey Federal Credit Union will also be awarding a special “Rising Star” award to support filmmakers in Passaic County.

Films were submitted to the festival by high school students, university students and independent filmmakers who live, attend school or work in Passaic County.

Short film entries are up to 10 minutes in length and are in the following categories: general short film; public service announcement; music video and documentary. The films were judged by members of the Passaic County Film Commission in February.

Awards will be presented at the festival and one Grand Prize for the best film of the festival will also be awarded.

A selection of short films will be seen on the big screen. Admission to the festival is free and it is open to the public. A free parking voucher for the underground parking garage at Center City Mall will be provided at the film festival, courtesy of Fabian 8 Cinema, Center City Mall, and the Paterson Parking Authority.
