2018 Passaic County Film Education Grant From Unique Photo Awarded to Passaic High School

A grant, funded by Unique Photo of Fairfield, to supply film equipment to support film education in our high schools will be awarded to Passaic High School on April 21 at the Passaic County Film Festival at the Fabian 8 Theater in Paterson.

In their application, Passaic High School Instructor Michael Harmon expressed a desire to expand their TV production program at the school. The equipment that was requested is a Canon EOS Rebel T7i Camera with a Video Creator Kit. This camera will be used by film students as well as photography students and yearbook staff.

“Learning trades such as TV production immediately helps students,” said Harmon.  “Students are required to be creative, work collaboratively and it allows students to be workforce ready upon graduation from high school.”

Unique Photo will provide up to $500 for the purchase of film, video or audio equipment to high schools to be utilized in the production of student films and for educational purposes.

“We are happy to participate in this special grant for Passaic County high schools,” said Joshua Bayha, Unique Photo Sales and Customer Service Manager. “We are thrilled to encourage young film makers.”

The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Passaic County Film Commission matched Unique Photo’s generous gift to increase the value of the film equipment grant to $1000.

This is the second year that Unique Photo has provided this award.

The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the members of the Passaic County Film Commission support film education in our high schools and universities and sponsor the Passaic County Film Festival annually.
