Passaic County Holds 14th Annual Film Festival

The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Passaic County Film Commission are sponsoring the 14th annual Passaic County Film Festival 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21.

The event will take place at the Fabian 8 Cinema in the upper level of Center City Mall, 301 Main Street, Paterson.

A variety of short films will be seen on the big screen. Admission to the festival is free and it is open to the public

75 films were submitted to the festival this year by students and independent film makers who live, attend school or work in Passaic County.

This year’s films cover an array of topics, such as one young adult’s journey to raise awareness about the DACA program and the impact on her family and her community. A Passaic County Technical Institute student has produced a public service announcement about the process of organ donation through the Sharing Network. A West Milford student submitted a music video film about a couples’ love of New York City through dance and music.

The Festival features film entries10 minutes in length and are in the categories of general short film; public service announcement; music video, documentary/historic film and tourism. The films were judged by members of the Passaic County Film Commission in February.

Several awards will be presented at the festival and one Grand Prize for the best film of the festival will also be awarded.

A special donation of film equipment will be present to one Passaic County High School courtesy of Unique Photo and the Passaic County Film Commission.

A free parking voucher for the underground parking garage at Center City Mall will be provided at the film festival, courtesy of Fabian 8 Cinema, Center City Mall and the Paterson Parking Authority.

The Film Festival is sponsored by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders with additional financial support from a grant administered by the Passaic County Cultural & Heritage Council from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, The North Jersey Federal Credit Union, Bascom Corporation, investorsBank, Accurate Box, Office Furniture NYC, Matrix New World, Unique Photo and the Passaic County Community College Foundation.
