Overview Statement

In Passaic County we believe in the importance of protecting our natural resources. We can do this only by reducing consumption of those resources and promoting the sustainability of our land, air and water through restoration and conservation.

About Our Office

The role of the Passaic County, New Jersey - Office of Natural Resource Programs has changed dramatically over the last few years. Formerly the Office of Recycling and Solid Waste Programs, the original emphasis on recycling started back in the 1980's has expanded to encompass a number of environmentally related programs. The office now coordinates outreach and education programs to support and enhance Municipal, State and National source reduction, recycling, litter abatement, transportation, hazardous waste and other environmental goals and activities.

With an eye towards enhanced communications and data and information transfers, the Office of Natural Resource Programs staff place concentrated efforts towards acting as facilitators. While many outreach and education programs are still run directly by the Office of Natural Resource Programs, more and more time is being dedicated to "training the trainers", empowering local groups and individuals, creating networks and serving as a resource and research center.

Programs will continue to be developed to help in protecting our natural resources, reducing consumption of those resources and promoting the sustainability of our land, air and water.
