Camp Hope
Camp Hope, a beautiful 50- acre wooded
retreat located on the shores of Greenwood Lake in West Milford, buzzes
year-round with activity. In July and August the camp is filled with
energy and laughter as hundreds of the County’s children converge at the
camp to enjoy a fun filled week of swimming, boating, arts & crafts, ball
games, nature hikes, and campfires. The Passaic County Board of Chosen
Freeholders sponsor all qualified children to attend camp free of charge for
one week in the summer. Camp Hope is run by a dedicated, well trained, and
caring staff; many of them were once campers themselves.
As summer camp ends and the school year begins Passaic County’s senior
citizens reclaim Camp Hope as their own. From September to June senior
groups from around the County eagerly pack buses to visit Camp Hope. A day
at Camp Hope is a day filled with good food, friends, and activities such as
bingo, line dancing, live music, bocce, and horseshoes. The Tuesday Night
Supper Club and a Line Dancing Program are also popular programs for the
seniors.
The Camp Hope Commission, the Freeholder Board, and the camp’s professional
staff jointly run Camp Hope. Camp Hope is currently in the midst of a
multi-year renovation project of all the camp’s cabins. Please see the photo
gallery for photos of the newly renovated cabins.
