Apshawa Preserve- West Milford, NJ
Passaic County's 512-acre Apshawa Preserve, located in the Highlands region
of New Jersey, includes a 43-acre reservoir and
miles of hiking trails. and is located adjacent to a 68-acre
tract owned by the New Jersey Conservation Foundation (NJCF).
The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders has formed a
"public-not for profit" partnership with the New Jersey Conservation
Foundation to oversee the property. The mission of the New Jersey Conservation
Foundation since 1960 is to preserve New Jersey’s land and natural
resources to benefit all.
The Apshawa
Preserve is open from dawn to dusk for recreation such as bird
watching, hiking and picnicking. Maps of the property and trail
signs will be available in the near future. Since parking is
not yet available at the site access at this time is on a walk-in
