Responsibilities for elections in Passaic County come under the jurisdiction of the Board of Elections, the Superintendent of Elections and the Office of the County Clerk. Each entity having oversight of different aspects of the election process.
The Board of Elections is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and placement of all election board workers throughout the county. The Board canvasses and counts all absentee and provisional ballots, and certifies all polling places that are used for elections.
The Office of the Superintendent of Elections is responsible for voter registration, address changes, voter’s party affiliation, and voter history.
The Office of the County Clerk is responsible for receiving and filing candidates petitions and financial reports, printing of all election materials, receiving absentee voter applications, maintaining absentee voter lists and the certification of both primary and general elections.
