Elections Division
The County Clerk’s Office is responsible for the following election duties:
- Receiving petitions for candidates for elective offices
- Printing of election materials
- Maintaining Vote by Mail (“Absentee”) voter lists
- Handling Vote by Mail Applications and Ballots
- Overseeing drawings for ballot positions
- Certifying primary and general election votes to the New Jersey Department of State - Division of Elections
Voter Information
A registered voter in Passaic County may vote at their designated polling location on Election Day or may apply to vote by a mail-in ballot. The polling location is printed on the front of your sample ballot, which will be mailed to your home before the election.

A voter may apply for a mail-in ballot by mail up to seven days prior to the election and may also apply in person until 3:00 p.m. the day before the election. If applying by mail, the application must be received in our office, not postmarked, seven days before the election.
Election Results
Passaic County’s election results are available on this website Election Night. Please note, before the voting information is provided to the county, all voting materials are delivered to the appropriate Municipal Clerk’s office to begin the process of tallying the votes. The Clerk’s office will then immediately post the election results to the County Website.

Copies of reports such as Mail in Ballot Lists and Voter Registration Lists are available through the Clerk’s Office for a fee and by requesting ahead of time. Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Petitions for Candidates
In an effort to improve the Petition Filing experience, the Passaic County Clerk's Office is now offering petition filers an opportunity to schedule an appointment prior to the petition filing date. Scheduling an appointment will improve the petition filing process and help reduce the time spent filing your petition. Please call the Election Office at (973) 881-4127.
