Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes

On May 16, 2009, Governor Jon S. Corzine made history in the State of New Jersey when he nominated Camelia M. Valdes as the Passaic County Prosecutor. When Ms. Valdes was confirmed by the Legislature, she became the first Latina county prosecutor in the State of New Jersey, the first woman prosecutor in Passaic County, and the first lead prosecutor of Dominican ancestry in the United States.

First Assistant Prosecutor Neil J. Cleary

On October 2, 2015, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes appointed Neil J. Cleary to the position of First Assistant Prosecutor. Mr. Cleary had served as Acting First Assistant Prosecutor since August 2, 2015.

Mr. Cleary began his employment with the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office in February 2003, as an Assistant Prosecutor assigned to the Trial Section, where he served until 2012.

Michael DeMarco

Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Michael J. DeMarco

Michael J. DeMarco was made the acting Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor of Passaic County on August 3, 2015 until he was sworn in as the Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor on October 2, 2015. Prior to that, he was the Chief Assistant Prosecutor of the Major Crimes Unit. He was the supervisor of the Homicide and Vehicular Homicide Units. He oversaw over a hundred homicide investigations. In 2003, DeMarco successfully prosecuted a former New York Giant defensive tackle for his role in the death of a four year old child of his paramour. In 2004, DeMarco tried the first Bloods Gang motive homicide in Passaic County. The defendant was convicted of murder as an accomplice and received a fifty year New Jersey State Prison term. In 2005, DeMarco successfully prosecuted three co-defendants for murder during a trial which lasted two months.

On July 22, 2013 Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes appointed Detective Lieutenant A. Joseph Fulco to Acting Chief of Detectives for the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. On October 1st, 2013 Chief A. Joseph Fulco was officially sworn in as the Chief of Detectives for the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
