In 2018, the United Nations declared June 3 as World Bicycle Day. Passaic County is partnering with EZ Ride to celebrate World Bicycle Day on Saturday, June 7 at Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park, NJ.
9:30 AM: Learn to Ride
Participants ages 6+ will learn:
Proper helmet fitting
Balancing on their bicycle
When comfortable: pedaling
Starting and stopping their bike
A parent/guardian helper is required for each child that participates. All participants must wear a helmet, mask, and bring a bike with pumped-up tires. We please ask parents to remove pedals and training wheels in advance. Parents are recommended to watch this video with their child the night before our activity:
11 AM: Bike Safety Talk, Bike Skills Course, and Park Ride:
Children ages 8 and up will learn how to properly ride their bike on public streets including:
Starting, stopping, scanning, & hand signals
Turning
Proper helmet fitting
Pre-ride safety check
Bike handling
Safe riding tips.
NJ Traffic Laws
All kids will be able to participate in a fun bike course followed by a group ride around the Garret Mountain Reservation paths to practice what they've learned. Child must be able to ride on their own without support for this activity. All participants must wear a helmet, mask, and bring a bike with pumped-up tires.
