Passaic County Seeks Volunteers for 2026 Point-In-Time Count to Address Homelessness

Post Date:01/07/2026 8:00 AM

Passaic County, NJ – Passaic County is inviting community members to volunteer for the 2026 Point-In-Time (PIT) Count, a one-day initiative that provides a snapshot of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the county. The 2026 Point-In-Time Count will take place on January 28, 2026.

The Point-In-Time Count captures critical data on the number and characteristics of people experiencing homelessness on a single night. This information helps local and state agencies better understand trends, improve system efficiency, plan resources strategically and promote effective interventions that meet real community needs.

“Accurate data is essential to creating meaningful solutions,” said Passaic County Commissioner Orlando Cruz. “The Point-In-Time Count allows us to better understand who needs help, where the gaps are and how we can more effectively connect residents to housing and supportive services. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring this effort truly reflects the needs of our community.”

Passaic County is conducting the 2026 PIT Count in collaboration with St. Paul’s Community Development Corporation, Eva’s Village, Heart of Hannah, Monarch Housing Associates and other dedicated community partners. Volunteers will assist with outreach efforts, helping to gather information and connect individuals with available resources and support.

All volunteers are required to attend a virtual training session prior to the count. Training sessions will be held via Zoom on the following dates:

  • January 14 at 10:00 a.m.

  • January 15 at 1:00 p.m.

  • January 22 at 6:00 p.m.

The Zoom link will be provided once individuals are registered to volunteer.

Community participation is critical to the success of the Point-In-Time Count. Those who volunteer help ensure that every individual is counted and that Passaic County can continue to strengthen programs aimed at reducing homelessness and supporting vulnerable residents.
