A winter storm is forecast to arrive early Sunday morning. Passaic County is preparing now, and we encourage residents to take steps to stay safe and help our crews do their work efficiently.
County Storm Operations
• Snow is anticipated to begin around 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
• County crews will begin treating roadways in the early hours, with plowing to follow as conditions require.
• Approximately 65 County and contracted plow and salting vehicles will be deployed throughout the storm.
Our priority is keeping County roadways safe and passable, and operations will continue as conditions change.
Plan Ahead for Sunday
• Avoid unnecessary travel once the storm begins.
• Staying off the roads allows plows and salt trucks to work more efficiently.
• Fewer vehicles on the road helps first responders reach those who need help most.
Be Prepared Before the Storm
• Stock up on food, water, medications, and essential supplies.
• Charge phones and electronic devices.
• Check on elderly neighbors and loved ones.
Senior Services
• Homebound seniors who receive Meals on Wheels will receive two frozen meals in advance to ensure they have food throughout the storm.
Code Blue Alert Information
A Code Blue Alert is declared when temperatures drop below freezing and weather conditions pose a danger to at-risk individuals.
During a Code Blue, authorities may transport homeless individuals to shelters and Warming Centers, where additional beds and space are made available until conditions improve.
