Born and raised in the Borough of Wanaque, Matthew Jordan has deep roots in Passaic County—his family has called the area home since the days of the Township of Pompton at the turn of the twentieth century.  A proud graduate of Wanaque Elementary School and Lakeland Regional High School, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University in 2008 and his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2013, attending evening classes while working full time, including as an Aide to County Commissioner Pat Lepore.

Jordan began his legal career as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Paterson, and is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.  He served as Passaic County’s Deputy County Administrator from 2015 to 2019 and County Counsel from 2020 to 2022.  In 2023, he was appointed County Administrator to complete the unexpired term of Anthony J. DeNova, III, and was reappointed to a full five-year term in 2024.
