Office of Recycling and Solid Waste
The Passaic County Office of Recycling and Solid Waste coordinates all solid waste and recycling planning functions for the sixteen municipalities of Passaic County, to include facility reviews, recycling collection and disposal programs, educational programming, and public outreach activities. The Office also administers the NJ Clean Communities litter prevention program, and is responsible for overseeing the in-house solid waste and recycling program for Passaic County’s facilities and parks.

The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners along with the Passaic County Office of Recycling and Solid Waste host recycling events throughout the County during the year.

2026 Recycling Events
Passaic County Clean Communities Clean Up Mini-Grant
In order to help keep Passaic County clean and free from trash and debris which enhances the quality of life for the County’s residents and business-owners, Passaic County Office of Recycling and Solid Waste offers Clean Communities mini-grants of up to $500 per clean up per non-profit group annually. Clean Communities funding compensates groups which conduct a clean up of an area in Passaic County which has been overrun with trash and debris. Passaic County has clean up tools which can be borrowed and returned to aid in a group’s clean up. Please see the list of rules in order to be eligible for a Passaic County Clean Communities mini-grant.
