Initial IDRC Class Scheduling

The Intoxicated Drivers Program (IDP) in Trenton is directly responsible for scheduling every client.  Clients will receive a scheduling notice in the mail at the address that was provided to the court at the time of sentencing.  Please note this process can take 2-4 weeks.  For questions about original scheduling, please call 609-815-3100.  The Passaic Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center (IDRC) does not do any original scheduling. Class walk-ins are not accepted.

RESCHEDULING of an Initial Class Date

According to NJ State Regulations 10:162-3.3; No client shall be permitted to reschedule an IDRC class date without the follow documentation being received by the IDRC office within 10 days of the scheduled class date:

1. Health emergency (self or family member): with physician’s letter signed and dated on provider letterhead
2. Death: provide a copy of the obituary within 10 days
3. Family emergency: illness / documented by medical/ school/ professional
4. Documented work emergency: provide proof of travel plans (i.e., airline reservations/ letter from client’s employer expressing hardship of class attendance)

Based on the above reasons, a client would be permitted one reschedule with satisfactory documentation.

12-Hour Class fee: $264.00
48-Hour Class fee: $321.00

PAYMENT

The IDRC accepts payment in the exact amount of $264 or $321 by Money Order only.  Payment is to be made one week prior the scheduled class date.  Once you receive your letter to schedule your class date(s), please submit your money order either by mail or in person.  In-person drop-off is available only on Mondays and Thursdays.

On the Money Order, specify in legible handwriting the full name of the person attending the class as well as their Drivers License Number.

Class Hours

The 12-hour IDRC program runs for 12 hours over two consecutive days from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM; the program must be attended both days consecutively to fulfill their legal requirements.  Upon arrival, a breathalyzer test will be administered.  Anyone attending class who appears to be under the influence of alcohol, or any other substance will not be admitted.  Failure to complete your IDRC Program can result in a mandatory two-day jail sentence.

Lunch

All IDRC clients must bring their lunch to class.  Ordering in, having food delivered, and/or leaving the premises are direct violations of IDRC protocols.  Violations of these protocols will result in immediate dismissal from class.  Failure to complete class in its entirety for any reason results in a noncompliance to the court and Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC).  Rescheduling another date to complete the class is at the IDRC Director’s discretion and based on class size / availability.

All Electronic Devices are PROHIBITED

The use of all electronic devices (including but not limited to Apple devices, cell phones, watches, earbuds, iPods, iPads, headphones, laptops, cameras, etc.) is strictly prohibited and enforced.  The Passaic County IDRC is NOT responsible for damaged, lost, and/or stolen devices.

Any violation of the electronic device policy will result in immediate removal from class and a non-compliance to the court and MVC.  Rescheduling another date to complete the class is at the IDRC Director’s discretion and based on class size / availability.  Please note that the Passaic County IDRC and its staff are NOT responsible for damaged, lost, and/or stolen electronic equipment.

Class Info

The 48-hour IDRC detainment program runs for 48 continuous hours from 9:30 AM on Day 1 and ends at 9:30 AM of Day 3 as scheduled; the program must be attended without interruption to fulfill legal requirements.  Upon arrival, vitals will be checked by a medical professional.  Anyone presenting to class who appears to be under the influence of alcohol, or any other substance will not be admitted.  Failure to complete your IDRC Program can result in a mandatory two-day jail sentence.  

Meal Information

Meals will be provided throughout the 48-hour period.

• Day 1: Lunch and Dinner
• Day 2: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
• Day 3: Breakfast

Personal Items

You will have an individual bed assigned to you.  Please bring comfortable clothes, a towel, twin sized bed sheet and blanket (or sleeping bag) and a pillow.  Please bring personal toiletries such as soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and shampoo.
