Consumer Protection

The  Office of Consumer Protection is charged with the protection of the public, educating consumers and businesses about their rights and responsibilities, and ensuring that businesses comply with the consumer protection laws of the State of New Jersey.

The  Office of Consumer Protection’s main responsibility is to enforce the Consumer Fraud Act and its regulations and to protect Bergen County consumers from becoming victims of fraudulent and unconscionable business practices. 

Additionally, the Office of Consumer Protection operates as a Consumer Service Center.   We provide Community Outreach for organizations and events  - if you are interested in a program, please contact our unit at (201) 336-6400.

Passaic County has a shared service agreement with Bergen County Division of Consumer Protection to offer a more efficient and streamlined service at reduced cost to the taxpayers. To contact the Consumer Protection Division, please visit their website.
