GIS Services

GIS breakdownThe GIS Division maintains and develops spatial data for Passaic County.  We provide GIS (geographic information systems) related resources to citizens, businesses, and other county departments. The Passaic County GIS base mapping is compiled from existing municipal GIS datasets and digitized parcels created from scanned tax maps. The base mapping is organized into personal geodatabases and is available as countywide data or by municipality. Learn more about GIS

Personal geodatabases provide the following three feature sets with their respective feature classes:

Feature Sets
  • Passaic County land base mapping
  • Passaic County transportation mapping
  • Municipal Boundaries
  • Parcels and Blocks
  • Right of Ways
  • Easements
  • New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) centerlines
  • Geographic data technologies (GDT) railroads (County ONLY)

Requesting Data and Maps
The GIS division is here to support data requests and map productions for the county and municipalities of the county, and would like to fill requests as soon as possible.

However, due to the number of projects and requests, please note the following when making a request:

  • Requests for data and maps are to be as specific as possible:
    • List all layers to be included in a map
    • List all layers the data request is for
    • Format the final product should be in
      • Maps: PDF, image, etc.
      • Data: Shapefile, GDB, CAD, etc.
  • Deadlines - please allow 48 hours to receive product
    • If more is needed, you will be notified
  • We do not maintain tax maps.  If you are looking for tax maps, contact the municipality directly.
  • We prefer requests to be made by email.
  • Please be sure to source us when using the data you receive.
If you have any questions or concerns about a request, feel free to contact Michael Lysicatos at mlysicatos@passaiccountynj.org or call (973)-569-4047
