2020 Primary Election Frequently Asked Questions

As per Executive Order No. 120, signed by Governor Philip Murphy on April 8, 2020, the 2020 Primary Election has been moved from June 2, 2020 to July 7, 2020. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution to preserve your constitutional right to vote while upholding the priority of public health during the COVID-19 public health crisis. Passaic County Clerk Danielle Ireland-Imhof recently sat down for an “Ask A Clerk” webinar hosted by the non-partisan voter engagement group Action Together New Jersey Education Fund.  ATNJEF Executive Director Winn Khuong and Clerk Ireland-Imhof discussed the changes around the upcoming July 7, 2020 Primary Election being a primarily Vote-By-Mail election and took questions from the public.

PRIMARY ELECTION REMINDER FROM PASSAIC COUNTY CLERK DANIELLE IRELAND-IMHOF:

Per Governor Murphy’s Executive Order #144, New Jersey’s July 7, 2020 Primary Election will be conducted primarily through Vote-By-Mail ballots.  

Our office has begun mailing the ballots for this election.  Voters should expect to receive their ballot in the mail by mid-June.
