Route 3 ramps to Route 21 northbound to be closed overnight for a week for bridge repairs in Clifton

Signed detour in place

(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the ramps from Route 3 eastbound and westbound to Route 21 northbound will be closed overnight for a week to make bridge repairs in Clifton, Passaic County.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Friday, August 6 until 5 a.m. the next day, and continuing nightly Monday, August 9 through Friday, August 13, the ramps from Route 3 eastbound and westbound to Route 21 northbound will be closed and detoured for bridge repairs and milling and paving. The ramp from Route 3 westbound to Route 21 southbound will remain open. The following detours will be in place:

Route 3 eastbound ramp to Route 21 northbound detour:
  • Motorists on Route 3 eastbound wishing to take the ramp to Route 21 northbound will be directed to take the Route 3 eastbound ramp to Route 21 southbound, which comes before the ramp to Route 21 northbound.
  • Take Route 21 southbound to Exit 8/Nutley/Lyndhurst
  • At the end of the ramp turn left onto River Road
  • At the traffic signal, turn left onto Park Avenue
  • Go under Route 21 and turn left onto Route 21 northbound

Route 3 westbound ramp to Route 21 northbound detour:
  • Motorists on Route 3 westbound wishing to take the ramp to Route 21 northbound will be directed to stay right onto the exit ramp for Route 21 southbound
  • Take Route 21 southbound to Exit 8/Nutley/Lyndhurst
  • At the end of the ramp turn left onto River Road
  • At the traffic signal, turn left onto Park Avenue
  • Go under Route 21 and turn left onto Route 21 northbound
